Packing up the I house: Kitchen

We've had fun, but it is time to go back to your box Little I house.

It just changes it so much to paint it!

Quite a change from the original chair to the painted one. But other than Reac, it is SO HARD to find good mini design. Except for the minimodernista ribbon lamp by Doris Nathanson, and the Paris Renfroe PDR sink unit. I especially love the faucet.

A "french door" refrigerator was just as hard to locate, and defied construction in detail, so once again the hacking answer. Paint.
The floor is vintage DDR German linoleum. The microwave mighty world, and the espresso maker at the edge of the scene, Delph miniatures, England. Mini food Rement, and ebay.

Boulled over.

I love Boulle doll furniture. This was made as copies of Andre Charles Boulle's work. He was a French cabinetmaker who was born in 1642 and died in 1732. He excelled at marquetry and set the standard for French furniture design that followed him.

Boulle

                                                               from the Chateau Chantilly.
I never thought I'd have any but then Shale of Susan's mini homes
convinced me to go to the two flea markets in Paris on different weekends. At the first maison de poupees I walked into I asked the owner if he had any Boulle, "non" he said, then stepped aside to a vitrine full. Wait till you see Shale's finds!

When visiting the Musee de la Poupee in Paris I found this following piece. It came with authentication papers from the Museum.

Perhaps the center drawer is missing and I shall have to fill it with letters?
The small bed and cheval mirror are more burl looking. But then they are perfect for "Bad Antoine". The petulent, spoiled little school boy doll. Or as my Little Assistant asks, "has he been asking for Mousse again???" She adores him. CM

PS. This is hilarious. Susan and I were both talking about how we didn't feel like blogging but I wanted her to send me pics of her boulle, and I took some of mine to send her. We had no idea the other person was blogging today! Are we the same person???

Home again, home again jiggity, jog. Treasures from France

Treasure from France. My Little Assistant met some dolls from France. The boy in the sailor suit is "Bad Antoine" he is a spoiled , petulant French boy who only wants Gateau and Vin! My Little Assistant adores him. Next to him is his Nanny, Sister Marie Robaire. She tries to make him behave but it is trying.
Notice the antique bowling pins next to him. He will have the top floor of the Christian Hacker dollhouse and share it with Marie Robaire. Then there is his globe, she tries to teach him but he is stubborn. Then a plastic grocery cart which is too modern, but eh, zis is pretend, no?
My favorite were the Key chains. They were used as advertising for
French products. I will remove the chain and have the best stocked
Schnegass liquor tray ever!
This little doll was thrown into the deal. I think he will work in the kitchen and Bad Antoine will be mean to him. Shale what did we decide Antoine's middle name was. I cannot remember.
Tooo much vin...

It is good to be home. CM
